KEKOVA TOUR
We will visit beautiful bays, historical monuments and ancient cities belonging to the famous Lycian civilization.
Demre Myra
Myra was an important city of Lycia, where St. Nicholaos was a bishop and maintained its fame throughout the Middle Ages, and its name means "the place of the Great Mother Goddess". Myra, which is called "Myrrh" in the Lycian language, was the city where today's rock tombs are located and one of the six important cities of Lycia.
The Myra Theater, one of the sites that have survived to the present day with 35 seating rows, is the most magnificent theater of the Lycian region with a capacity of 10 thousand spectators. During our break here, we closely examine the historical textures.
St. Nicholas Church
While visiting Demre, we will also visit the original burial place of St. Nicholas of Myra. The Church of St. Nicholas, the Santa Claus Museum. In the early days of Christianity, Myra was the metropolis of Lycia. St. Paul changed ships in its harbor on his way to Rome in 60 AD and was asked by St. Nicholas, now known as Santa Claus, to rub his hand on their ship for good luck.
Kekova
When we arrive at Kaleköy, which we pass by boat, we will explore the castle and enjoy the view on the hill. While closely examining the sarcophagi and rock tombs from the ancient Lycian civilization, we will also taste goat's milk ice cream, one of the unique flavors of the region. Then we will take a boat tour in the deep blue Mediterranean waters off Uçağız and Kaleköy. We will have a swimming break among the historical ruins in Aquarium and Tersane Bay.
